In
a word, God doesn’t love the one percent any more than He loves the 99 percent. God doesn’t care about one’s economic
status in life. If one has to
murder in order to protect what he or she has, then in fact, it’s better not to
have it. God doesn’t care about
what we either own or don’t own.
No one is more important in the eyes of God because he or she is richer
or poorer than others. Blessings
don’t come in wealth, contrary to popular belief about wealth. Having things is NOT being
blessed. I would say that one is
blessed if one lives without pain.
Or one is blessed by having children. Or those blessings come from a stroll in the woods or taking
in the breathtaking beauty of God’s creation. But people who count wealth as blessings from God are
missing the point about what it means to be blessed.
People
who have educations are NOT any more blessed than those who don’t have
educations. The meaning of
blessedness is found in general happiness and not in either status or wealth. The meek are blessed because those who
are meek generally will not have a reason to take a human life, but by the same
token, it is the meek that are bullied by those who aren’t so meek. So, when the meek are blessed because they
will inherit the earth, Jesus is saying that they won’t have to take land from
others by force, but that they will inherit the land. They are inheritors and not like those who take by force. Now, if you think about what Jesus is
saying, the wealthy in His day took land by force if indeed they wanted the
land from someone. But those who inherit
won’t have to take by force that which is theirs by right of birth. In looking at all the Beatitudes and
Jesus’ definition of those who are blessed, there is nothing mentioned about
wealth. Peacemakers are blessed. Those who mourn are blessed. The persecuted are blessed. The poor in spirit are blessed because
they like the meek will NOT murder to get what they want. Jesus says that those who hunger and
thirst for righteousness are blessed.
They are like the Peacemakers.
The merciful are blessed.
In other words, blessings have nothing to do with wealth.
Those
who feel they are blessed by wealth aren’t any more blessed than those who are
poor. And that is the point that
Jesus is making in the Beatitudes.
God doesn’t love the one percent more than the other 99% for one simple
reason: No one is more blessed
over another with wealth, status, or education. If you think about the reasons why anyone would take the
life of another, the reason is usually about money. It’s about territory.
It’s about space. It can
even be about time. Jesus knew
that the REAL righteous people of this world are blessed because they had no
reason to take the life of another.
THIS IS WHAT JESUS IS SAYING!
If you have a reason to take the life of any other, you aren’t blessed,
but cursed. Peace. Brother Ralphie for The Angels of Life Institute
