A Reason to Believe

I read a letter to the editor of our local paper from a person who simply said he was weary.  He wasn’t in a holiday mood because he doesn’t see anything good that is going to happen in 2013.  As we approach the fiscal cliff, he knows that his taxes are going up and that food prices are going to increase.  He can’t get away from the commercialism of Christmas.  He’s tired from weary from the recent elections and all the negative ads he saw in the past six month preceding the election.  And he can’t escape the commercialism of Christmas.  In essence, he’s weary.  He most likely wrote this prior to the one event of December 14 that shook the nation.  This time we as a nation are more affected by this event because this event involved the lives of 20 school children and six adults.  And today being December 15 as I write this, there are just too many unanswered questions.  But every time an event like this has happened we always ask, “Why?”  Usually, there are NO answers.
I say that these events are signs that the Messiah is near.  This IS our HOPE.  And not only this, but I can say HOW the Messiah will judge the nations when He arrives.  ANYONE who purposely takes the life of another will NOT see the Kingdom of Heaven on this earth or ANY other place.  Then I say to the families of the victims that if we knew what heaven were like we would be falling all over ourselves trying to get in.  God has a place for the victims of these events.  I can safely say that the victims will be honored in heaven and be surrounded by the heavenly hosts at ALL times.  I say they are special to God.  And I say woe to those who have taken the lives of these victims.  I would rather emphasize the Grace of God than speak of His punishment.  The Grace of God encompasses ALL sins, except that EVERY Human Life belongs to Him and to Him only.  I have said that ONLY God can take a human life and woe to anyone else who does.
Yes, the world is weary.  It is weary just as the world was weary when Jesus was born in a lowly manger 2,000 years ago.  I can see it in the eyes of those whom I meet.  I can hear it in their voices as they speak.  They write with clarity expressing their weariness.  But I say to be happy because these are signs of His coming.  In my thinking He can’t come soon enough.  I say with the world, “Maranatha, Lord Jesus.”  Peace be with you.
