Why I DON'T Belong

Controversies ARE abundant.  One has t0 ask where the money comes from and THAT will set the rules for ANY private organization.  If a school receives ANY federal dollars it is NOT able to discriminate for ANY reason.  If a school is strictly private as most Catholic schools are, they set up their own standards, not just according to the diocese, but that in this case, the Pope.  The Catholic Church does NOT recognize the LBGT community and therefore, discriminates against anyone LBGT.  This does NOT, however, make the institution correct, it's just that it can do this.  So, in regard to ANY profit or non-profit organization one HAS to ask where the money comes from.  Society is more open to LBGT, but when Moses says that homosexuals should be stoned and there are people today who think so, even in the Catholic Church, then indeed, there will be opposition to the LGBT community, even though in society such behavior IS generally accepted.  So, if money comes into a school from the State or the US Government, it is NOT allowed to discriminate.  But if a school IS strictly private, it's not so much that governing bodies determine policy, but quite often it's the people who give the money particularity if they ARE NOT for such behavior.  Students up to the age of 18 are generally exempt from such guidelines.  Institutions ARE generally more lenient to the students who misbehave but don't break laws or are NOT accused of a crime.  This is why public institutions ARE and have been generally more liberal than private institutions, because private institutions CAN do as they wish.  When one is paid by such an institution, then the institution can hire and fire at will.  UNLESS public monies ARE involved with such institution.  There is this controversy taking place in our city that made the national headlines.  Her lawyers are fighting to reinstate her.  The school is saying it adheres to the policy of the Catholic Church.  This is why I will NOT belong to ANY organization of ANY kind.  I believe the Grace of God covers every sin and that nothing is more sacred to God than Human Life.  I would say her lifestyle doesn't matter, but then too, she had to know that Catholics frown on such a thing.  It doesn't matter how they found out about it.  They found out and she's without a job.  Unless her attorneys can prove the school receives public money, she more than likely will NOT be re-instated.  Discrimination of ANY kind is wrong, but churches do it ALL the time.  Each can decide who they will and who they will NO(T admit as members.  And I choose then NOT to belong to ANY organization that would have me as a member.  Mark Twain.  I think he is right.  Peace.  Brother Ralphie
